My name is Erica Richards and I am from the Beta Mu Chapter at Salisbury University, on the eastern shore of Maryland. However, I am originally from Baltimore and will be traveling from that airport to get to Hawaii.

I am super excited for this trip! I have literally had a countdown with my roommate (also a sister) in our house all semester. The countdown has also been for graduation. It has been kinda hectic for me because this week has been my week of final exams, I graduate Saturday afternoon, then leave for Hawaii on Sunday! I still cannot believe how soon all of this will be happening; it seems like so long ago we found out about the trip and the anticipation has been building for so long now that I cannot believe it is finally here!

I attended the Officer Academy this past summer in June and had an absolute blast. Did anyone else going on this trip attend Officer Academy? Honestly, that was one of the main reasons I wanted to apply for this trip. I had such an amazing time meeting sisters from all over and making great connections, I did not want the weekend to end! I get chills thinking about all of the amazing memories that we will make in this next week. Just to warn you all–I am a hugger! Let’s let the bonding begin!

I have not even begun to pack yet, I will probably start about three hours before I leave my house. My best friend and I will be traveling together from her house flying out of the Philadelphia airport. We have a six hour layover in LAX (ugh) and then we will be on our final leg of the journey to Oahu <3 I am so excited to finally see the place where my daddy lived for about six years. He worked as a professional photographer on the islands and took many beautiful pictures. I was thrilled at the idea of being able to call my daddy while in Hawaii and talk about the places and things he saw while he lived there. However, he passed this past January 22 and I will not be able to talk about our similar experiences. Although I will be sad knowing that I cannot talk to him on the phone and relive some of his memories, I plan on keeping him close in my heart and seeing some of the beautiful sites he had in the past. I know he will be with me throughout my entire trip <3
