National Awards Nominations Information
Criteria and Guidelines
Within this document, you will find a list of National Convention awards with a brief description of the criteria and guidelines for each award. The nomination process for the 2012 National Convention awards will be conducted online therefore there is a web link for each award that will be needed to complete the respective application. Nominations will close on March 1, 2012. No applications will be accepted by the Awards Committee after the March 1, 2012 deadline. Questions regarding this process should be directed to the Holly Morris, Technology Services Coordinator, at HMorris@alphasigmatau.org. Please place “Question” and the name of the award that you are inquiring about in the subject of the email. Thank you for your nominations for these awards.
Ada A. Norton Award
The Ada A. Norton Award is to honor alumnae who, through longevity have demonstrated outstanding service to the Sorority in an effective, creative and dedicated manner.

Lois Schweikart O’Dell Anchor Award
The Anchor Award is to honor outstanding alumnae in good standing who have given exceptional dedication and faithful service to her alumnae chapter and community for a minimum of five years. It shall be presented to those alumnae who are not presently serving on the National Staff.

Carrie W. Staehle Award
The Carrie W. Staehle Award is to honor initiated Chapter Adviser(s) for exceptional service to their chapter and to the Sorority.

Edward Jervey/Martha DeCamp Award
The Edward Jervey/Martha DeCamp Award is to honor the collegiate chapter which has exhibited in all of its actions the highest adherence to the ideals and integrity of Alpha Sigma Tau as set forth in the Creed.

Founders Award
The Founders Award is to honor the collegiate chapter which is outstanding in all facets of Sorority, college and community life.

Helen Garman Award
The Helen Garman Award was established to honor those Chapter Adviser(s) who are not initiated members of Alpha Sigma Tau but have given exceptional service to a collegiate chapter and to the Sorority.

The Mary Louise Mandrea Doyle Panhellenic Award
Nominees for this award may be either collegians, alumnae, or collegiate or alumnae chapters that have made outstanding contributions to the Greek cause on a campus, in a community through Panhellenic service or to NPC. The nominees must have fulfilled Sorority commitments and responsibilities.

Order of the Yellow Rose
The Order of the Yellow Rose was created to honor alumnae in good standing who have given long faithful service or for the successful performance of a special project for Alpha Sigma Tau.

Thomas J. King, Jr. Award for Excellence
The Thomas J. King Jr. Award for Excellence was established to honor those individuals who are neither members of Alpha Sigma Tau nor faculty advisers, but who have greatly contributed to the growth and development of the Sorority.

McCrory Order of Interfraternity Excellence
The McCrory Order of Interfraternity Excellence Award is to honor an individual who has contributed outstanding service to the betterment of the Greek system. Nomination criteria are as follows:
- Be from outside the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority
- Be from any campus, regardless of whether Alpha Sigma Tau has an active collegiate chapter there
- Be a female or male nationally-known educator, executive of any Sorority or Fraternity, or university/college administrator in student affairs.
- Exemplify the finest tradition of fraternal service.
- Make noteworthy contributions in relations between Sororities and Fraternities and the community in which she or he is a part.
- Show significant leadership among educator in relations between college administrators and Greeks.
- Have sustained a successful leadership in Interfraternity affairs.
- Be a respected spokeswoman or spokesman for the important cause of fraternal ideals.
Recipient will be a seminar presenter/facilitator at the National Convention.
